Reconciliation Action Plan (R.A.P.)
Ripponlea Kindergarten believes in the importance of reconciliation between non-Indigenous people and the Traditional Custodians of Lands across Australia. By strengthening relationships between non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through exploring our differences and similarities in a respectful way, without fear of prejudice, discrimination, or racism, we can work toward creating an inclusive and equitable society.
In continuing to develop and implement our Reconciliation Action Plan, we hope to further our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and living cultures and to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and our Kindergarten community.
Continuing to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and cultures into the kindergarten and our program in a culturally responsive way will enable us to instill a culture of respect for diversity and promote understanding, not only for the children in our care, but also for all who come into our space. As educators, we acknowledge that we are in a unique position to accomplish this through the strong relationships we build with children and their families.
By acknowledging and respecting and sharing the true histories, achievements and cultures of First Nations Australians we hope to play a part in the progression toward a reconciled Australia.
